Steve Stevens in Worthing, West Sussex, is the latest addition to the list of volunteers on the Natural Death Centre notepaper who are prepared to offer people advice with d-i-y funerals.
Steve Stevens can help with form-filling, he has a friend who can supply a Volvo (from £25) for transporting the coffin (it will fit a 6' 6" coffin).
The local crematorium has a mortuary next door where the body can be kept until the funeral and it sells a cardboard coffin for £55. The crematorium is looking for land for a nature reserve burial ground; and Stevens is encouraging local churches to get involved in helping their members with their funeral arrangements, perhaps by getting local farmers to allow burial grounds on their land.
