The Problem:
show how different news events are connected to each other
The Social Invention:
Any event in the world has ripple effects that affect everything else in the world. The idea is to develop an hyperlinked site which can show how different events are related to each other.
So for instance an increase in heavy pollution news article could be linked to an article about increases in cancer in a certain area. Or an article on the iraq war could be linked to an article on increased gas prices. Or an article about Walmart coming into town could be linked to articles about local shops going out of business.
We live in an interconnected world. We cannot separate social events from political events from economic events. They are deeply interconnected.
One way to hyperlink the news events is to have the hyperlink come with a rating of how much people think the two events are connected. So all readers are allowed to vote on how significant they think two events are linked.
This way of showing how things are connected in the world could help everyone understand the consequences of any actions. This hyperlinked paper could raise the socialeconomicpolitical IQ of the people reading it.
The site would end up being this extraodinary wonderful mindmap of the interconnected of all things happening in the world, a cartography of current and historical events.
