The Rubbish Lottery: every disposable package is a 'lottery ticket'

The Problem:
Litter everywhere.

The Social Invention:
Every disposable package for a product (particularly products used by children such as canned drinks, crisps and chocolate) could have a unique number that is a number for a special 'rubbish lottery'. The number would be entered on a special website and the website would indicate if a prize is won. Prizes could range from cash to holidays etc.

The website could have an 'every one a winner' policy so that every number entered would reward the user with - at the very least - a joke.

lepton84 09 Feb '07 02:43	Subject: Not too feasible 2 problems with this idea: 1. People will still litter after they've entered the number to the lucky draw. 2. If proof is required, that means ppl will have to accumulate rubbish in their premises. right?

stowbury 06 Apr '05 13:25	Subject: This could reduce waste and eliminate litter overnight What if the full rubbish packaging has to be deposited at the retailer to claim the prize so they bear the cost of disposal, thereby discouraging packaging/branding in favour of loose fruit & veg etc?
