The Problem:
Wanting to participate in competitive sport but being unable to commit to regular games.
The Social Invention:
Sports centres could arrange ongoing 'marathon' team events where participants can join in or drop out at any time. The games would be arranged so that one person joins the game when another drops out.
The sports centre would state the time when the event will occur and people would know they can join at any time. Team events included would be football, rugby, basketball, cricket etc.
From my own point of view this is a good idea as I would still like to participate in football games but I am unable to commit to a weekly game and I doubt very much if I'd have the fitness levels to last 90 minutes.
