The Problem:
First time house buyers cannot afford to get onto the property ladder, as they do not have the 5-10% deposit required

The Social Invention:
The average wedding costs Â£20k. Instead of a combination of the parents and couple paying all of this on the big day, why not invest 50% into putting down a 5% deposit on a Â£200k house.

This way the couple can start their married life in a house that they are on the way to owning.

The government could encourage this idea by making wedding's cheaper (opening council/government buildings at weekends at subsidised prices)
