It must have been 1985 or 86. Nicholas Parsons drove me, my son (then about 7), and Nicholas Albery to the Association for Humanistic Psychology conference at Unstone Grange. Nicholas A. was wonderful with my son, preventing his from getting bored on the journey. He introduced himself as Nack Nick, and the other Nicholas as Nick Nack. Nicholas Albery led a brilliant workshop at the conference. It was on Brainstorming and everyone went away from it feeling brilliant and creative too. Such was Nick's nack - a nack of affecting people he came into contact with with his own enthusiasm and clarity. I was also shocked and saddened to learn that the other Nicholas had also been killed in a road accident. Both their bright spirits live on.
